Travel Advice is an independent travel magazine with no display advertising and no sponsored content. To fund our writing, fact-checking and hosting, we use affiliate links. This page explains what that means, in full transparency.
What is an affiliate link?
Some links in our guides point to commercial partners: accommodation booking platforms, tour and activity sellers, travel insurers, eSIM providers. If you book or buy something after clicking one of these links, the partner pays us a commission.
This commission never changes the price you pay. It comes out of the partner's margin and is never added to your bill. Booking through our links costs exactly the same as going directly to the partner's website.
How to recognise them
Every block that contains an affiliate link is flagged with a "Partner" label and a short disclosure that links back to this page. Technically, these links carry the rel="sponsored" attribute recommended by Google and go through an outbound address on our own site (/go/…), which lets us count clicks without setting a cookie or collecting any personal data.
Our partners
We only work with companies we would use ourselves when travelling. Depending on the page, you may come across links to:
- Booking.com — accommodation;
- GetYourGuide — guided tours, activities and skip-the-line tickets;
- SafetyWing and Chapka — travel insurance;
- Airalo — eSIM cards to stay connected abroad.
This list evolves and is updated whenever a partnership starts or ends.
What affiliation does not change
- Our recommendations. The places, stays and activities in our guides are chosen for their interest, not for their commission. No partner has any say over our texts and none reviews them before publication.
- Our indicative prices. Published budgets and price ranges come from verified sources (tourist boards, operators, official tariffs), cited at the bottom of each guide.
- Your data. Clicking an affiliate link sends no personal information from us to the partner. Once on their site, their own terms and privacy policy apply.
Why this model
We ruled out display advertising, which degrades reading and slows pages down, and sponsored content, which blurs the line between information and promotion. Affiliation seems to us the most honest model for a free magazine: you pay nothing extra, you remain free to book elsewhere, and you always know when a link earns us something.
Legal framework
In line with French consumer-protection rules (DGCCRF) and the law of 9 June 2023 on commercial influence, any content containing a paid link is flagged as such. This page complements our legal notice, terms of use and privacy policy.
